Dr Adele Seniori Costantini

Main qualifications: Degree in Medicine and Surgery, University of Florence; post-graduate specialization in Medical Statistics, University of Pavia and in Hygiene and Public Health, University of Florence.

Commitments and fields of research:
I have worked for about 30 years at the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute (ISPO) in Florence, Italy. My research interests have concerned both the aetiology and surveillance of occupational and environmental cancer. I have undertaken cohort studies of workers exposed to carcinogens in the work environment and case-control studies on haematolymphopoietic malignancies with particular expertise in studying risk associated with solvents and pesticides.

I was Director of the Unit of Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology at ISPO from 2000 to 2010. My responsibilities included management of the Tuscan Regional Mortality Register and the Tuscan Register of Malignant Mesotheliomas.

I am presently engaged in studies concerning aetiology and survival from non-Hodgkin Lymphoma at ISPO and I participate in the “Survival initiative” of the InterLymph consortium.

I have taught Epidemiology at the Postgraduate school of Medical Statistics, University of Pavia and at the Master in Genetic Epidemiology, University of Pavia.

I have been a member of the Italian Association of Epidemiology (AIE) for 30 years and was President of the association from November 2008 to November 2010
